This year’s 1st UAMCC Convention (http://www.uamcc.org/) was well received with high accolades despite the short notice for planning the event and the time of year.  They came from as far away as Canada, California, Maryland, Mexico, Montana, New York and Michigan.  Participants were excited about the networking opportunities that were available through those in the same trade as well as those were in other trades.  I received numerous comments about how this show presented such an opportunity to network with the other trades for future referrals, expansion and growth.  Exhibitors commented on how the attendees that were there were serious about business and were making purchases.

Thursday the keynote speaker Vicki LaPlant of Vital Learning Experiences (http://www.vitallearningexperiences.com/ ) got thing rolling presenting on paradigm shifts and thinking outside your box.  This really motivated the group to analyze different ways to grow their business and to improve their personal life that were not ordinarily the way to approach the topic.  Personally, I was expecting a motivational speaker but you could have knocked me over with a feather.  This was exactly the thought process behind creating UAmCc.  It was a paradigm shift, creating an association that was not specific to one trade but to an entire industry of mobile contract cleanings. Vicki got the crowed involved by asking them write down two or three paradigm shifts that could effect their company.  Then she asked for volunteer to present their particular situations.  Robert Hinderliter went first and explained how UAmCc was such a shift and an open discussion took place about how the concept for the organization was a good idea, how it could be improved upon and how greatly it can benefit the industry in the future.

Of course training and education was the main stay for the show.  Classes were presented on Thursday and Friday on air duct cleaning, awning cleaning, carpet cleaning, environmental power washing, financing equipment, janitorial business, marketing, pressure washing, pressure washer maintenance, pure water technologies, target marketing, truck washing, water damage restoration, water stain removal, window cleaning, wood restoration as well as writing contract and bids.  Attendees also received certification for Air Duct Cleaning, Environmental Power Washing, Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning and Carpet Cleaning.

The Banquet took place Friday evening and a fine choice of Mexican cuisine was served accompanied by a mariachi singer.  Donna Griffin, A.C.O.R.N. Coordinator, spoke about positive thinking and five ways to implement it into your life.

On Saturday, the demos started around 9:00 am and ran through to Noon.  Lunch was served and the exhibit hall was open for trade from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  For information on joining UAmCc call 800-211-0290 or email info@uamcc.org.
