This course is designed to teach student's effective techniques for cleaning kitchen exhaust systems in the real world and to prepare them for IKECA Certified Exhaust Cleaning Specialist exam. Particular emphasis is placed on the NFPA 96 Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations 98 & 2001 Edition to ensure that students understand fire prevention regulations as they pertain to Kitchen Exhaust Cleaners. In addition the course covers environmental issues that impact the Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning industry. Whether you are a new operator just starting out, a small company with specialized training needs, or a large company that wants their people to have the best possible training, this course is tailored to meet your needs.

Note: The 2008 edition of NFPA 96 11.3 states that the entire exhaust system shall be inspected by a properly trained qualified and certified company or person(s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. If your state or local authorities have adopted, or will adopt NFPA 96 (2001 edition) this course, along with IKECA Certified Exhaust Cleaning Specialist Certification, is for you. In addition, if you work in areas where NFPA 96 has not been adopted, certification can be used as a good sales tool for you. It tells your customers that you are trained to look out for their safety and interest.

An individual who passes the IKECA Certification Exam shall be designated as a "Certified Exhaust Cleaning Specialist (CECS)." In addition, if the certified individual is an owner, manager, or full-time employee of an IKECA member company, the company shall be automatically deemed "IKECA Certified."
